Grandíssimo: cycling career simulator
Grandíssimo is a free browser game where you live through the career of a
professional road cyclist and try to make them great. Create a young rider,
weigh contract offers from rival teams, manage race weight, and take on a full
calendar of one-day Monuments and three-week Grand Tours season after season.
Every career plays out through stats and decisions: watch your rider develop,
climb from domestique to team leader, build a palmarès of wins and podiums, and
eventually retire with a career worth remembering.
About the game
Grandíssimo is a text-and-numbers career simulator, not an action game. Think of
it as a management sim for a single rider: there is no match engine to control in
real time, only the meaningful decisions of a cycling career and the results they
produce. Each rider is generated with a hidden physiology, a power-duration curve
from a five-second sprint to a one-hour effort, a climbing profile measured in
watts per kilogram, and an archetype such as sprinter, climber, puncher, or
all-rounder. Riders develop through their twenties, peak, and decline with age,
so no two careers are the same.
How to play
-
Create a rider. Start with a young prospect and discover their
talent and specialty as their stats reveal themselves.
-
Sign a contract. At the start and at every contract expiry you
choose from offers by rival teams, each with a role from domestique to team
leader that matches how good your rider has become.
-
Set your race weight. Trade weight against power each season.
Lighter lifts your climbing watts per kilogram but costs endurance and recovery,
a real lever with real consequences.
-
Race the calendar. Ride the season one race at a time, from
the cobbled Classics and the five Monuments to the three-week Grand Tours, where
freshness and recovery shape your general classification.
-
Build a palmarès. Rack up wins, podiums, and jerseys season
after season, then retire and read the verdict on your rider's whole career.
What makes it different
Under the surface Grandíssimo tries to stay physiologically coherent: a lighter
rider has a smaller engine, added weight always costs watts per kilogram, and the
power curve is built so a sprinter, a climber, and a time trialist each shine
where they should.
